Greetings, The Revolution is back in your inbox again this month with new articles, news updates on our Philippines trip and information on upcoming events. Check it all out and, as always - Join the Revolution! Tom Johnston & Mike Perkinson
- A Church Growth Strategy or a Lived Reality? by Mike Chong Perkinson Leadership and serving God's people can be a very burdensome task if not properly approached. Exhortations such as "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up" (Galatians 6:9) and "Strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed" (Hebrews 12:12- 13) embody the reality of growing tired in the arena of ministry and our responsibility to continue.
by Tom Johnston The great harvest of souls we all seek - and Jesus desires - can only come as God works a great transformation in His Church. Not just a change of systems, or of formats, or of ministries and programs, or ways of holding services, but of true inward transformation of our hearts. We all know a revolution is needed in the Church so a revival can happen in the world. But this revolution is not simply structural, but takes place within the heart of every Christian leader and disciple. I was confronted in my devotional reading recently by Luke 6:46 (ESV): "Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do what I tell you?
We have returned from the Philippines and have established our first Discipleship Development Center! Read more about Praxis East Asia - there are pictures too!
Las Vegas, NV - October 12 & 13
An Introduction to core new Testament principles for pastors and church leaders. InFusion is a seven session leadership training tool based on core New Testament concepts. An excellent resource for introducing the organic principles taught by Jesus. Registration Deadline is October 1.
Phoenix, AZ - October 23- 25 The Quest Church Planter Training Intensive is designed to provide late-stage, implementational planning process for establishing a new church community. The training provided is non-model specific, principle-based instruction derived from the ministry process of Jesus. Because of this, Quest can be used in any ethnic environment or socio-cultural setting. Using these principles, the event helps the planter and their team to develop a "pathway" for starting the new church which they envision. Registration Deadline is September 28.
I serve as the District Supervisor for The Foursquare Church in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania where we are committed to church planting and church health. Praxis has been our primary resource for both church planting and church health materials. I find that every resource is principle based and works in any cultural setting while not being model specific. Because of the diversity of the three states I serve I can utilize Quest or Vista or The Crossing in both rural Pennsylvania or in The Bronx with equal effectives. I fully endorse and highly recommend Praxis as a full service resource for church planting and church health materials. - Pastor Art Snow, District Supervisor (Tri- State Metro Area) for the Foursquare Church
